Statement
“The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves. This release of declassified documents demonstrates the Trump Administration’s earnest commitment to unprecedented transparency.” — United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
Context
In response to President Trump’s directive (February 19, 2026, via Truth Social) for transparency on UAP information, the Department of War with ODNI support is overseeing government-wide efforts to find, review, declassify, and release unresolved UAP-related records. Described as “unprecedented, historic” requiring coordination between dozens of agencies and review of tens of millions of records spanning decades. Materials released on a rolling basis with tranches every few weeks.
The materials are unresolved cases — the government cannot make a definitive determination on the nature of the observed phenomena. DOW “welcomes the application of private-sector analysis, information and expertise.”
