r/UFOs — “The Billy Meier UFO and Bob Lazar’s UFO are almost identical” (skeptical OP, June 2026)
Source: Reddit, r/UFOs, post by u/HeathJett (score ~37); id 1u5dhxu. A skeptical analysis arguing Bob Lazar’s “Sport Model” is near-identical to Billy Meier’s 1975 photos, and that Lazar’s rebuttal fails because the cited March-1975 photo was not Meier’s first. A significant issue for many regarding the Bob Lazar story is that Bob’s description and illustrations of the UFO craft that Bob Lazar saw close up (The Sport’s Model) is strikingly similar to the famous Billy Meier photo taken in March of 1975. This is a predicament for Bob because unless you are in the extreme minority like this guy recently on Debriefed , it’s pretty obvious that Billy Meier faked UFO photos. For example: JULY 9th 1975 by Billy Meiers (BTW, that tree apparently was never in that spot, so to explain this Billy said the alien woman Semjase removed it later?) #66.Semjase flying with her beamship around a wettertanne (weather pine) 14m height (the tree later eliminated by Semjase). Pfaffikersee in background. 9th July 1975. https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:F0066.jpg JULY 1977 (That is supposed to be an alien woman (Alena) holding a laser pistol that Billy used to shoot the hole through the tree in the next photo) Alena with Menara’s lethal laser light weapon, photographed by Billy during Contact Report 78 on 6th July 1977. https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:Alena3.jpg The tree that Billy shot with Alena’s laser gun https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:The_tree_which_Billy_shot_with_Alena%27s_laser_gun.jpg These, of course, are just a few of the many suspicious photographs taken by Billy. These allegedly fake Billy Meier photos are a huge problem for Bob, because since Billy almost certainly faked UFO/alien photos, then it becomes very likely that Billy’s photo that looks like the sports model is probably also faked, and that would mostly likely mean that Bob’s sports model craft story is not real, but an idea spawned by fake Billy Meiers photos. To handle the issue with the only option he has, Bob doubles down and states that the first famous March 1975 photos that Billy Meier took of the sport’s model-like craft have to be real . To address the later hoaxed photos, Bob states he thinks it’s a product of “UFO researcher syndrome” that Billy faked photos later on to regain public attention after the spotlight had faded away. On the Jesse Michels April 2026 podcast he explains this conviction: https://youtu.be/d9tdJ2SkBKQ?si=4eqhHoCDmfBZVsBQ&t=4115 Jesse: People associate you with the kind of Billy Myers sports model like you know the craft that Bob: It looks like that it looks exactly like that exactly like that, like, I thought Billy Myron was absolutely ridiculous because I I’ve seen some of the pictures and this is what I mentioned to you the other day, UFO researcher syndrome, I think the initial pictures Billy Meyer took of the sport model looking craft are a 100 percent genuine. There’s no way that there could be another one of those than just coincidentally looks EXACTLY like what I call the sport model , so I think he absolutely photographed that and it was real, and I think at the time he got a lot of attention and you know they printed books and everything and I think as time went on he kind of missed that and then he started making some models and taking some new pictures, and the other pictures look ridiculous, they do it looks like you know Jesse: there’s something about like dinosaurs in his book and Bob: yeah I know Styrofoam balls all to what it is yeah I found some more pictures you know come back and yeah so I think that’s you know that that’s… just a personal belief yeah there’s no way you can tell me that those original pictures aren’t genuine This seems like a big stretch, that Billy Meier happened to catch a real UFO that looked like the sports model, but faked all the rest of the photos after than to gain attention, but perhaps not impossible? The big problem with Bob’s explanation, however, is that the famous March 1975 sport’s model-like photo is NOT Billy’s first UFO photo, and EARLIER photos also look faked: Here is the famous March 8th 1975 sport model-like photo, flown according to Billy by a 5.5ft tall alien woman named Semjase #494 Demonstration flight conducted by Semjase’s beamship at Ober-Sadelegg, Canton of Zürich, Switzerland on 8th March 1975 https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:F0494.jpg But here is a Billy Meier photo of Semjase’s craft on January 28th 1975, MONTHS BEFORE THE FAMOUS SPORTS MODEL-LIKE PHOTO: The Frecht Nature Preserve, outside Hinwil, Switzerland. Semjase’s aircraft departing after Contact Report 001 on 28th January 1975.[4] https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:Ufo_154.jpg Here is a Billy Meier photo from February 28th, 1975 (THE MONTH BEFORE THE FAMOUS MARCH SPORTS MODEL-LIKE PHOTO). Billy says he took this photo while inside another alien’s ship named Quetzal?: Semjases beamship flying high above Dorf Unter, Balm, taken through porthole of Quetzals beamship, 28th February 1975. https://www.futureofmankind.co.uk/Billy_Meier/File:Unterbalm1.jpg These and other photos taken by Billy before the famous March 1975 photo also appears to be fake. To reiterate, this photo above, according to Billy, was taken a month before the famous March 1975 photo, and has Billy FLYING in a different UFO while taking a picture of the sports model-like craft. This is not after the March photos, it is the month before in February 1975. So to correlate with the Bob Lazar story, what are we to believe here? …that the month before Billy took the famous Sports model-like photo he was actually flying in a different UFO taking photos of the Sports model-like craft through the portholes of a different alien craft? Then he took the famous sports model-like photos a month later in March, and then subsequently faked everything after that to gain attention? …or since this February (and other previous photos) appear fake, are we to believe Billy Meiers created fake UFO photos prior to the famous March 1975 photos, then happened to take real UFO photos in March that looked just like the sports model, but also happened to look like the craft in his faked photo in February, and then after March he also faked everything else to gain attention? These options are highly implausible. In summary, to believe that the Billy Meier’s story is true and all his photos of UFOs and women aliens with laser guns are authentic is, quite frankly, laughable to most people. In addition, to believe that Billy Meiers was photo faking everything BEFORE AND AFTER EXCEPT his one set of photos in March 1975 that collaborate Bob Lazar’s sports model craft story, is also very…challenging. The reality, in my opinion, is that the most likely scenario is all of Billy Meiers UFOs are likely faked, and because Bob’s Lazar’s sports model looks identical to one of Billy Meier’s photos, it adds another significant flag to his story.

u/knowstradamus7: Meier was essentially a UFO cult leader who faked all of his saucer photos. These photos, and the phony stories associated with them were disseminated by convicted child pornographer Wendelle Stevens. Stevens was connected to John Lear, who was chummy with Lazar long before he came forward with his Area 51 saucer story. It’s all a big circle.
u/illuminatiisnowhere: And speaking about Lear. I noticed his program where he talked about aliens are on youtube. Apparently that was 2 years before Bob came out with his story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGQkkHuwm6w
u/knowstradamus7: Lear was likely connected with Richard Doty as well, and they were engaged in the same behavior during this period; spreading fantastical stories about UFOs and alien visitation.
u/frankensteinmoneymac: Maybe Billy Meier saw a real UFO once and then modeled one of his fakes on the real one?! Ever think of that possibility?!?!🤔 Nah…I’m just talkin’ shit. Billy and Bob are both liars!
u/Material-Knowledge60: I always suspected initial photos were real. Everything else is sus AF, idk.
u/Sea_Perspective6891: Wasn’t the laser gun proved to be a modefied toy gun? I remember some debunking that was done on some of this stuff.
u/explicittv: Alien tech is so advanced it looks like toys you order from 1970s comic books.
u/illuminatiisnowhere: I wasnt aware aliens wore human clothes and looked like an earth woman.
u/HeathJett: or had mannequin hands?
u/sendmeyourtulips: There are better versions that show he had a friend pose with the gun . There’s an old photo of Meier with 20 of his friends and there’s a man at the back whose hair matches the “alien” in those flight suit & ray gun images.
u/GetServed17: Well they do have somethin in common, they’re both hoaxers.
u/FromDeletion: This is correct. Billy Meier’s story has prompted a great deal of research into his claims, both by skeptics and those within the UFO community who expected to confirm his reports. What was discovered is that the Billy Meier story actually represents the biggest UFO hoax in history. Upon close examination it was discovered that not one of his alleged photographs were original prints, but all had been airbrushed or otherwise altered. Models of some of the spacecraft seen in his photo’s were found in his house. In one video of an alleged flying saucer, the spacecraft can clearly be seen to be swinging pendulum style as if it were suspended by a wire. The photograph of an alleged Pleiadian alien was discovered to be a photocopy of a model taken from a Sears Catalog. Under close scrutiny, all of Billy Meier’s alleged evidence has been shown to be false. Yet, Billy Meier’s claims survived for many years within the UFO community, being touted as the best evidence for the reality of alien visitation. There are still those who will not admit the entire case is a complete hoax. Meanwhile, Meier has made a great deal of money from the sale of his book and other material in which he discusses his hoaxed contact with aliens.
u/JackFrost71: John Lear said that he showed Lazar the Billy Meiers tapes/files.
u/NateBerukAnjing: all billy meirs photo are fake i think, it looks too clear, it supposed to be blurry and orbish even with modern camera in 2026
u/BigHammerSmallSnail: Area52 just had an episode about Billy Meier
