CINDACTA I — “Resumo de todos os casos de OVNIs” (radar, 1977–78) (SIAN 0183)

What: a Brazilian Air Force CINDACTA I (Centro Integrado de Defesa Aérea e Controle de Tráfego Aéreo — the integrated air-defense/ATC radar center) internal compilation, marked RESERVADO, summarizing every OVNI case CINDACTA I was involved in, authored by 1º Ten Ademir Freitas (Esp CTA), Brasília-DF, 6 Dez 1978. The compiler’s own framing (verbatim)

“Este trabalho é o resumo de todos os casos conhecidos de OVNIs que o CINDACTA I participou. Não existe no CINDACTA I nenhuma gravação de vídeo, todas as fitas foram desgravadas. Alguns casos não possuem documentos escritos, somente fitas gravadas de VHF e TF. … Neste trabalho não se procurou explicações ou conclusões.”

Two things worth flagging: (1) it is a radar/ATC-center case file — the instrumented, air-defense side of Brazilian UFO reporting, distinct from the witness-questionnaire material; and (2) the candid admission that all the video recordings were erased (“desgravadas”) and some cases survive only as VHF/TF audio tapes — a records-attrition datum (the primary radar data largely no longer exists; this summary is what remains).

Representative radar entry (verbatim, Gemini OCR)

“27 MAIO 77 — 0227Z — ACC BS solicitou ao QD-TYP verificar se avistava objeto no rumo Nordeste, distância 11 NM. Detecção radar — alvo com 902 Kt próximo ao QD-TYP…”

A radar return logged at 902 knots is the kind of hard, instrumented anomaly the framework weights above visual reports — recorded by an ATC center, in 1977, contemporaneous with the Pará flap. The file contains a series of such dated radar entries (positions in radials/NM, times in Z), plus celestial charts for the Rio de Janeiro sky used to rule out astronomical sources. Note the compiler explicitly disclaims drawing conclusions — it is a raw case register, not an adjudication.
